Loyle Carner returns to Australia with his boldest and most heartfelt project yet – hopefully ! – an album that marks a powerful new chapter in a career already defined by its depth and evolution. With two surprise tracks, “all i need / in my mind”, the critically acclaimed British artist invites audiences into a personal world shaped by fatherhood, childhood, and fearless artistic exploration.
A decade since his debut, Carner has become one of the UK’s most vital voices, blending unflinching, diaristic lyricism with genre-bending soundscapes. From the raw storytelling of Yesterday’s Gone to the soulful introspection of Not Waving, but Drowning, and the cathartic, politically charged hugo, Loyle Carner’s work resonates with honesty and impact. Twice Mercury Prize-nominated, with a string of sold-out headline shows at iconic venues like Alexandra Palace, Wembley Arena, and the Royal Albert Hall, his live performances are as emotionally powerful as they are sonically inventive.
With hopefully !, Carner steps out of his comfort zone to sing, produce, and even form the band of his dreams. The album’s cover features his young son – heard throughout the record – a moving symbol of the artist’s evolution and the lightness he now carries. It’s a celebration of growth, identity, and creative freedom.
A multidisciplinary force, Carner is also a writer, director, entrepreneur and actor – soon to appear in the BBC’s Mint, from BAFTA-nominated director Charlotte Regan. He’s received an honorary doctorate for his advocacy around ADHD and dyslexia, and continues to inspire through his Chilli Con Carner cookery workshops.
Now, Brisbane fans have the chance to witness one of contemporary music’s most dynamic talents live at The Fortitude Music Hall this December.
